How to draw a T-Rex, step by step
Draw a T-Rex in seven steps: a big blocky head with an open mouth, the eye, the neck and back, a long thick tail, two heavy legs, and two very small arms. The size contrast between the huge head and the tiny arms is the whole drawing.
Before you start
- Exaggerate. Make the head bigger and the arms smaller than feels right — that is what makes it read as a T-Rex.
- The back and tail are one long line from the head to the tip.
- Legs are thick at the top and thin at the ankle, like a chicken drumstick.

What usually goes wrong
- Drawing the arms at normal length. Tiny arms are the point.
- Making the tail droop to the ground. It sticks out behind for balance.
- Adding rows of teeth. Two or three triangles is enough and looks better.
